Richard loves Mixed Martial Arts, Krav Maga and his beautiful daughter.  The gym is his home away from home, if he is not with his daughter enjoying tea parties at American Girl, then he's pumping iron.

Because of Richard’s deep love for horses, he dreams of someday owning a beautiful ranch to breed horses for himself and his daughter. Also, as a country boy at heart from Dallas, shooting is in Richard’s blood.  He has been shooting since the age of 8, when his brother let him shoot a .357 magnum.  That pivotal experience scared the heck out of him but inspired Richard to learn. Shooting for Richard is a passion and an art.

As a certified NRA instructor, Richard prides himself as being particularly capable and patient with beginners and does not get all "Marine Corp Crazy" on them.  As he proudly proclaims, promoting a comfortable learning environment is a must for safe, relaxed shooting…and a good time!

Gus teaches pistol classes for Impact Personal Safety, a non-profit dedicated to teaching personal safety to men, women, and, children. He volunteers his time with other shooting groups with the purpose of introducing people to the shooting sports. He loves to see the empowering effect learning has on students. His focus is on helping new students overcome fears or barriers they may have surrounding firearms and helping everyone improve on marksmanship. He is known for being patient, humorous, motivating people through positive reinforcement, and his extensive knowledge of different types of firearms and ammunition. Basically he enjoys shooting, teaching, and helping people. He keeps his knowledge on firearms current by self-practice, reading firearms related material, competing in shooting tournaments, and remaining a student by taking classes himself. He is a night grocery manager at Ralph’s and in his free time enjoys weight training, trying new buffet restaurants, listening to music, and making his own ammunition.

A native of Texas and the son of a decorated Vietnam War veteran, Richard enlisted on 9/11/2001 as a United States Marine, then spent nine years in the Corps serving in both the Afghanistan and Iraq theaters of war.  That horrific and infamous day deeply affected Richard and motivated him to join the Corps — for obvious reasons — and to dedicate himself to work for the United States of America. During his multi-year stint in the Marines, he was a machine gunner and sergeant who rose to the level of team leader, commanding a private security detail charged with the responsibility of protecting the Commanding Officer in Afghanistan and Iraq.

After retiring with an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps three years ago, Richard hired out as a private contractor for SECFOR INTL.  and has continued to work as an “ in-demand” expert in private security for high profile clients and their families in the Los Angeles area.
In 1996, Carla took her first self-defense class with Impact Personal Safety. As a woman socialized to be a people pleaser she found it a life changing and empowering experience. She has been teaching self-defense since 1997 and in 2014 helped start Impact’s firearms training program. She teaches using positive reinforcement and layering of techniques. Her goal is to make the class a safe, supportive environment, and help each student reach his or her potential. She would like her students to walk away with an increased sense of personal safety and empowerment. She believes nobody has the right to hurt you or make you feel afraid. Carla’s own spinal and joint issues prompted her to seek training solutions for her students and she is adept at modifying techniques.
Allison Barton Rubalcava arrived in the firearms industry not just unintentionally but more accurately kicking, screaming, and filled with fear all the while protesting mightily as her husband insisted their sons learn gun-safety. Much to her dismay it turned out that shooting could be tremendous fun and she began shooting recreationally with her boys. As the wife of a Marine and mom to three the focus of her efforts were home-based until that special time it was deemed the children were “old enough” for mom to finally use that college degree for more than mopping floors, preparing meals, and home-schooling. Bountiful joy
and Mazel Tovs ricocheted off the walls as her parents envisioned their only daughter finally entering academia, publishing very scholarly articles and educating the masses. Education—YES—but not what they expected. Allison has taught hundreds of students both male and female as well as youth how to safely handle firearms and shoot effectively. In addition, she and her husband of 30 years volunteer their time to teach personal safety to a variety of groups, most notably young adults headed off to college.
Gus is a nationally certified pistol instructor who became fascinated with the art of firearms when he took his first pistol class. He was hooked and began a journey pursuing this passion by constantly trying to perfect his skill using different firearms platforms. He consistently is a top scorer in competitive and class shooting events due to his knowledge of firearms, understanding the principles of marksmanship, and his ability to apply both. This is manifested in his combination of speed and accuracy. He expanded his focus on improving his own skills when his sister, who works nights, had a scary event in her life. She was left feeling threatened and vulnerable. She asked him to teach her to shoot for self-defense and he came to realize how rewarding it is to empower students to learn to shoot and see them walk away with new found knowledge and confidence.
Bill Gay
Bill Gay has been a Pistol and Rifle Instructor and Range Safety Officer for over six years.  When he is not at the range, he practices corporate and securities law with a regional firm.  He lived and worked in Tokyo for several years, speaks Japanese, and represents many clients in international transactions.  He first became certified as a Firearms Instructor when he found that he was frequently taking clients shooting, instead of golfing.  He enjoys shooting with his wife and son, and he and his son occasionally build custom AR rifles in various calibers.
